Museum of Andalusian Autonomy: testimony, identity and memory in Coria del Río
For guests staying at the Hotel Leflet Gran Vía, the Museum of Andalusian Autonomy offers an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the historical events, symbols, and values that shaped contemporary Andalusia. Located between Coria del Río and La Puebla del Río, this museum serves as a meeting point for education, reflection, and the cultural and political heritage of our region.
What is it and what is its mission?
The Museum of Andalusian Autonomy was founded with the aim of becoming a permanent institution for the education, dissemination, preservation, and research of the recent history of Andalusia. Managed by the Center for Andalusian Studies, its mission is to keep alive the collective memory of Andalusian identity.
In addition to the museum, the complex includes the Blas Infante House (“House of Joy”), the Blas Infante Gardens, temporary exhibition spaces, a media library, an audiovisual room, a research center, and various educational services.
What can you see
-
Permanent exhibition: a thematic and chronological journey through the processes that led to autonomy in Andalusia. It covers everything from the first proposals for autonomy in the 19th century, through the periods of dictatorship and repression, to the democratic transition, referendums, constitutional symbols, and the reform of the Statute of Autonomy.
-
Collection of Andalusian symbols: flags, coats of arms and other original emblems that form part of the symbolic heritage of Andalusia.
-
Blas Infante House Museum: the residence of the “Father of the Andalusian Homeland,” where a large part of his material, bibliographic, and intellectual legacy is preserved. Here you can see how he lived, worked, and how his ideas have contributed to the development of autonomy.
-
Blas Infante Gardens: a landscaped environment with native species, aromatic and medicinal vegetation, originally conceived by Blas Infante in 1931, which adds landscape value to the exhibition complex.
-
Temporary rooms and cultural mediations: activities that complement the permanent exhibition, such as photography, documentaries, conferences, workshops or contemporary art exhibitions that engage with memory and with present-day Andalusia.
